10:00 AMSenior Commission
The Senior Commission advises the City Council on matters relating to the status and condition of senior citizens within the City, assesses and reports to the council on the social, health and other needs of senior citizens and recommends methods of meeting such needs. The Commission has nine members who serve four-year terms. The Senior Commission meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Senior Community Center, Located at 13909 East 14th Street.

Designed for children ages 3-8, our preschool storytimes feature the best in children's books, songs, and arts and crafts activities. This program is for children and a caregiver, to help children get ready for kindergarten, get the reading habit, and to have fun! No registration required, just drop in!

5:00 PMFREE -- Tech Drop In Lab (Main Library)
Do you have a tech device and need help using it?

The Tech Drop In Lab, the Library's free technology help program, is scheduled today, 5 PM to 8 PM on the first floor of the Main Library. It's designed for all ages and offers assistance using cell phones, digital cameras, tablets, laptop computers, other mobile devices, operating systems, and OverDrive, the Library's ebook service.

The library has trained volunteers ready to offer one-on-one assistance. All sessions are drop-in with no reservations necessary. Those seeking assistance are asked to bring in their tech device, power cords, account usernames, account passwords, and user manuals, if available. 7:00 PMPlanning Commission - Special Meeting
The Planning Commission will review the draft Housing Element Update including proposed changes to it in response to feedback from the State Housing and Community Development. Public input will be solicited.

The Planning Commission holds hearings and makes recommendations to the City Council on matters relating to the City's General Plan, zoning, and land use, and affecting the development of the City. The Planning Commission is made up of seven members who serve four-year terms. The Planning Commission meets the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

7:00 PMArab American Heritage Month Celebration

In observance of Arab American Heritage Month, musicians and singers from ASWAT will perform exciting and enriching folkloric, classical and contemporary Arabic music. ASWAT is a multi-ethnic and multi-racial music ensemble that reaches out to the entire Bay Area community.

Come join Library Volunteer Carol Trevino to work on your needle craft project (knitting, crocheting, embroidering, quilting, cross stitching, etc.) while discussing books, travel and movies! The Needle Crafters, sponsored by the San Leandro Library, is an informal, fun gathering to meet and make new friends and relax at the Library. So if you are a beginner and want to learn, this club is just for you! This group meets year round, except on holidays.

11:00 AM37th Annual Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon
Celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday at this heart-warming San Leandro tradition! Reservations for this event will start on Friday, October 3 at 9:00am at the Senior Community Center and 11:30am the Marina Community Center. Group reservations will begin on Friday, October 11 based on space availability. There is a two-seat limit per person for this event. Reservations are nonrefundable.

7:00 PMHuman Services Commission
The Human Services Commission (HSC) identifies social needs in the community and recommends to the City Council possible ways to meet those needs, evaluates and encourages the provision of social services in the City, assists social services agencies with fundraising, and reviews requests for City financial support to social service agencies. The HSC has nine members who serve four-year terms. The HSC meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Sister Cities Gallery at City Hall.

10:30 AMLaughter Yoga

There are no complicated poses needed for this type of yoga. In fact, the only muscles you’ll need are your belly laughing muscles. The San Leandro Senior Center’s Laughter Yoga class is a drop-in program that includes playful exercises and lots of jokes. Laughter Yoga also includes stress-reducing exercises, such as gentle breathing and stretching. Please bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes. No pre-registration is required. Each participant will need to pay a $1 fee at the beginning of class. Must be 50+ to participate.
