Community Meeting to Discuss Temporary BART Parking Options During Construction of Major Downtown Development Projects

The City of San Leandro welcomes residents and businesses to attend a presentation on temporary BART replacement parking and public transit options during the upcoming construction period for the first phases of the Cornerstone Apartments (Cornerstone) and the San Leandro Tech Campus (SLTC) developments near the San Leandro BART Station. A community meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 29, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Main Library (Karp Room), 300 Estudillo Avenue. Both development projects are scheduled to begin construction in December 2014.

General Plan Update Community Meetings on October 23 & 28

Local residents are invited to attend upcoming community meetings to share ideas for San Leandro's future growth and development. The meetings are part of the City’s General Plan Update, a two-year effort designed to guide long-range growth and development in San Leandro over the next 20 years. Key elements to be discussed include land use, transportation, and recreation/open space. Public meetings have been set for the following dates:

Thursday, October 23 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at the San Leandro Senior Community Center, 13909 East 14th Street

Tuesday, October 28 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Marina Community Center, 15301 Wicks Boulevard

10:30  AM Laughter Yoga

There are no complicated poses needed for this type of yoga. In fact, the only muscles you’ll need are your belly laughing muscles. The San Leandro Senior Center’s Laughter Yoga class is a drop-in program that includes playful exercises and lots of jokes. Laughter Yoga also includes stress-reducing exercises, such as gentle breathing and stretching. Please bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes. No pre-registration is required. Each participant will need to pay a $1 fee at the beginning of class. Must be 50+ to participate.

Join us for the annual Halloween Extravaganza at the Manor Branch Library! There will be a fantastic assortment of entertainment, from games to face painting and crafts. Everyone is invited to wear costumes! Refreshments served.

Come join Library Volunteers Sandy McDonald and Carol Trevino to work on your needle craft project (knitting, crocheting, embroidering, quilting, cross stitching, etc.) while discussing books, travel and movies! The Needle Crafters, sponsored by the San Leandro Library, is an informal, fun gathering to meet and make new friends and relax at the Library. So if you are a beginner and want to learn, this club is just for you! This group meets year round, except on holidays.

Please join your San Leandro neighbors for an important community meeting on development, transportation, and the local economy. The meeting will provide a chance to learn about San Leandro’s future plans and share your thoughts about how San Leandro might change and evolve over the next 20 years.

This meeting is one of the first steps in a two-year process to update the entire San Leandro General Plan, the blueprint for the City’s growth and development for the next 20 years. We invite you to one of our two meetings to learn more about the process and join the conversation that will shape the new plan.

We will sing songs, do fingerplays and many movement activities, and hear lots of short picture books! No registration required, but due to room capacity we will stop seating when we reach our seating capacity. We offer duplicate sessions at 9:30am and 10:30am for your convenience, so please choose just one to attend.
