This resource, administered by the City's Building and Safety Services Division, provides an additional incentive allowing "do-it-yourself" residents who are interested in strengthening structural weaknesses in their homes the ability to do so without the added costs of purchasing or renting tools required for a retrofit.

Eligibility:

§  Must be a San Leandro resident who has:

§  Participated in the Home Earthquake Strengthening Course

§  Been issued a Building Permit to do the Seismic Retrofit and will be using the San Leandro Prescriptive Home-Strengthening Plan Set

Cost:

§  FREE!

§  A credit card or refundable deposit is required to check out tools.

 

Additional Info:

·         Tools may be checked out for four-day periods

·         A list of some of the tools we have available:

•  Air Compressor – Cast Iron Pipe Cutter – Hammer Drill – Jig Saw – Nail Gun – Framing/Finish/Palm Nailers - RotoHammer

·         As an added benefit, once your seismic retrofit is completed, you are welcome to borrow tools for any future home projects for as long as you are a San Leandro resident.
