The City has nine (9) boards and commissions, each with a specific role and purpose in maintaining the quality of our community and building a solid, progressive future. The City encourages you to help realize a vision for the future by becoming involved and serving as a City board or commission member.

Below is a list of available board and commission positions that are either vacant or have expired terms. See the Notice of Vacancy for details.

Human Services Commission (Representation: District 3)
Library-Historical Commission (Representation: Youth)
Rent Review Board (Representation: Resident Landlord)
Senior Commission (Representation: District 1)
At the end of each year, the City publishes a Local Appointments List to show the expiring appointed terms for the coming year.

To apply, submit a completed Board and Commission Application to the City Clerk's Office. You can submit an application anytime. Submitted applications are active for two years. The City will contact you as openings occur.
The City is part of the County of Alameda. The Alameda County Board of Supervisors appoints Alameda County residents to serve on the many boards and commissions on a volunteer basis. More information is available from Alameda County or the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.
The City Council makes appointments to other local agencies. When there are available positions, information will be shown in this section.
