The City Clerk's Office works in conjunction with City departments and members of the community to conduct a number of activities. The City Clerk's Office is responsible for:

  • Preparing and distributing City Council agendas
  • Recording Council actions at City Council meetings
  • Processing agreements and recording official documents
  • Performing required legal noticing for City Council meetings, including public hearings, so that all interested parties have an opportunity to participate
  • Responding to public requests for information
  • Issuing permits for a variety of activities such as nonprofit solicitations and close-out sales
  • Coordinating the City Records Management Program to ensure that public records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements
  • Coordinating the broadcast of the City Council agenda and other public service announcements on the government access channel
  • Election Information

Fair Political Practices Commission Filings

The City Clerk's Office is responsible for: Performing duties as required under the Political Reform Act and regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), including maintaining the filings of the Form 700 - Statement of Economic Interests and campaign disclosure statements, and posting the Form 806 - Agency Report of Public Official Appointments

Boards and Commissions

City boards and commissions are an important part of the democratic process.  They were established to advise the City Council and provide ongoing input into policies and issues that affect the future of the San Leandro community.  Those who seek membership on a board or commission must be a San Leandro resident and must submit an application for consideration. All board and commission meetings are open to the public and copies of agendas are available at least 72 hours prior to any regularly scheduled meeting.
