Friends of the San Leandro Library

About the Friends

The Friends of the San Leandro Library is a non-profit organization comprised of community volunteers who help generate funds to support the San Leandro Library and its three neighborhood library branches. They do so by encouraging membership in the Friends, selling gifts at the Friends Gift Shop and selling used books at the Booktique bookstore and at the semiannual book sales.

BOOKtique

The elegant BOOKtique bookstore, located in the Main Library Lobby, is sponsored and operated by the Friends. The BOOKtique sells high-quality donated books and other items at very reasonable prices.  Books, which are in "like new" condition, are for sale at bargain prices. Videos, audio books, children's books, fiction, nonfiction, biographies, music CDs, cookbooks, and paperbacks galore are also available at great prices. Volunteers regularly restock the Booktique shelves so be sure to stop by on a periodic basis to find literary treasures! These books have been hand-selected as the best and the brightest of all donations. Proceeds from the funds raised via the BOOKtique will be used to support the San Leandro Public Library materials fund, library programming, the Summer Reading Program, and cultural and educational events.

The BOOKtique is open Mondays 11 AM - 6 PM, Tuesdays 11 AM - 4 PM and 6 PM - 8:30 PM, Wednesdays 11 AM - 4 PM, Thursdays 11 AM - 6 PM,  Fridays 11 am - 4 pm and Saturdays  11 AM - 4 pm,  depending on availability of volunteer staff. For additional information or to volunteer in the BOOKtique, please call (510) 577-3941.
