Are you an aspiring author? Do you like to write? If so please join our Writing Workshop for students in grades 3 to 6, taking place at the Main Library on Monday November 3 and Monday November 10 at 3:45pm.
At this workshop, we will look at different types of writing, such as realistic fiction, fantasy, adventure, and mystery, and do some fun writing activities. Then you will start your own book! Sign up at the Children's Desk to reserve your spot, or call 577-3960.
On Friday, November 14, best-selling children's book author Mac Barnett will visit the San Leandro Main Library for an entertaining author talk. Mac has written more than a dozen picture books, including Count the Monkeys, Battle Bunny, Guess Again, and the Caldecott honor book and New York Times bestseller Extra Yarn. He is also the author of four "Brixton Brothers" chapter book mysteries. Mac’s presentation involves reading, some (in his words!) amateurish drawing, and a little talking about the writing process. Listen to Mac talk about his craft and give you tips on becoming a great writer!
Important note: this free program is best for grades K to 8. The program starts at 3:30pm and will last for approximately 45-60 minutes.
