The San Leandro Police Department is currently accepting applications for the upcoming 2016 Teen Police Academy. This class is open to the first 24 qualified applicants between the ages of 14 and 18 who reside, attend school, or work in the San Leandro area.  There are no fees for this program.

The Teen Police Academy provides teens with an understanding of the San Leandro Police Department and its role within our community. During the Academy, members of the Department will provide instruction to the   students in various areas of law enforcement, including patrol operations, traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, crime prevention, public safety dispatching, SWAT, police K-9 unit, and others.  The Academy will also focus on leadership development, personal responsibility and camaraderie.

Students will be offered the chance to go on a patrol ride-along with an  officer to obtain first-hand experience of what patrol officers do on a daily basis.
