Youth Advisory Commission(YAC)
Mission Statement (adopted April 14, 1997)
As a reflection of San Leandro's diversity, the Youth Advisory Commission is dedicated to working with the City Council to promote awareness, safety, and involvement among youth. It is our mission to ensure that youth needs and interests are seriously considered in crucial decisions that affect the entire community. To achieve this, the YAC will serve as a link between the City Council and San Leandro's young people by working to build consensus on contemporary issues of importance and to make sure that this consensus is heard.
The YAC consists of twenty-one members who are appointed by the City Council. The YAC Commission meets at City Hall on the 1st and the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. to discuss current local events involving our teens, to plan up-coming youth events, and, or to complete special assignments given to them by the City Council.
