The May issue of City News is here. This publication will be posted on the City's website each month and include news, events and updates of interest to the community. Members of the community can receive an email notice of the new update by signing up through E-Notify. At its monthly meeting on May 9 in Oakland, the Mayors of Alameda County unanimously elected San Leandro Mayor Stephen H. Cassidy as President of the Alameda County Mayors' Conference for 2012-2013. Mayor John Marchand of Livermore was elected as Vice President. Terms of each position are for one year.
The Alameda County Mayors' Conference was founded in 1954 as a means of maintaining a cooperative effort and understanding in matters of mutual interest among the cities in Alameda County. The group works to assemble and discuss information regarding issues relevant to various areas of the County, as well as to consider, study and make recommendations related to regional, state and federal issues. The Conference meets monthly, with meetings rotating through the cities in the County.

But when bulbs go dark, they shouldn't be thrown into the trash or recycling bins. Bring 'Em Back, StopWaste.Org’s new campaign allows individuals to return their old compact fluorescents and tubes back to a local participating retail store.
The program is partially funded by PG&E as part of efforts to keep compact fluorescent bulbs out of the landfill. For more information and to find a retailer near you, go to www.BringEmBackAC.org.

David Baum began work at San Leandro City Hall on April 16 as Finance Director of San Leandro. Mr. Baum brings with him more than 20 years of local government experience and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Stanford University.
