Welcome to the Tech Lab! The Tech Lab is the do-it-yourself makers-space available to Library Users located in the Electronic Learning Center (ELC) at the Main Library. Utilize the equipment in the Tech Lab for free with your library card to enhance your business, for schoolwork, or to explore creative interests.
Policies to know before you reserve the equipment:
The Tech Lab is a free do-it-yourself (DIY) service at the Main Library. Library staff can assist with basic hardware and software troubleshooting. If you need further assistance with using specific equipment, please view our Resources tabs that are grouped by the equipment type.
Current Equipment Policies:
iMacs with Adobe Suite
This computer is subject to the Library's Internet Policy and the Rules of Conduct policies. With your library card, you have access to a maximum of 90 minutes of computer time per day. Time spent on the Macs is counted towards your daily 90-minute limit.
This is a Do-it-yourself station. Please use print and digital resources found on the library website to help with software questions. Staff can assist in troubleshooting basic hardware and software problems.
Late Policy - Reservations will be canceled for users who are more than 15 minutes late, and the station will be made available to other users.
Reserving Equipment:
Please reserve the Tech Lab Equipment at least 12 hours in advance. Looking for a same-day appointment? Please visit the Main Library (300 Estudillo Ave) or call us at 510-577-3971 for availability.
To reserve your equipment in advance, follow these steps:
1. Have a San Leandro Public Library card. Don't have a library card? All California residents can get a free library card. Apply online today and pick up your card during your next visit!
2. Reserve the equipment you would like to use on LibCal.
3. Arrive on time for your reservation and check in at the Information Desk to log on to the station.
