The City of San Leandro requires a license for any animal that lives within the City limits. You can obtain your dog license by completing the Animal License Application (PDF) and submitting by one of the following methods:

- In person at the cashier's office located on the 1st floor of City Hall, Suite 103
The cashier's office is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; closed on Friday.
The animal licensing period coincides with the rabies vaccination period.
The following fees apply for an animal license:
- 1 year rabies Not spayed/neutered: $21
- 1 year rabies spayed/neutered: $10
- 3 year rabies Not spayed/neutered: $42
- 3 year rabies spayed/neutered: $21
Animal owners must present proof of rabies vaccination upon purchasing an animal license. The fee for the animal license shall be reduced by 50% for animals who are spayed/neutered. Please present a copy of your sterilization certificate (it may be noted on your rabies certificate) at the time you purchase your animal license to receive the discount.
