Crime Prevention Unit

To enhance the San Leandro Police Department's level of customer service, a Crime Prevention Specialist has been assigned to provide crime prevention education to our residents and the business community. The San Leandro Police Department offers various programs on crime prevention and crime awareness which are provided to neighborhood groups and crime victims to ensure that they know how to protect themselves against future crimes.

The City's Crime Prevention Unit has been trained and certified in the areas of residential and business security as well as CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design). They review site development plans for security issues prior to the construction of new buildings and facilities.

Our Crime Prevention Unit is available to answer questions and provide presentations to groups of all ages, including schools, neighborhoods, seniors, business groups, volunteer organizations, and others.
