The City of San Leandro and the San Leandro Public Library Continue to Stand United Against Hate
The escalating violent attacks on Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), including the recent horrific shootings in Atlanta that took the lives of eight innocent people, are shocking and have deeply affected many of our Asian and AAPI employees, local communities, and people across the county.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have seen violence and hatred against Asian and AAPI people grow increasingly in frequency and intensity, which has put their communities, families and businesses at risk. This is alarming and unacceptable.
The City of San Leandro condemns these assaults and incidents of anti-Asian sentiment. We stand in solidarity with our AAPI colleagues and community in denouncing racism and expression of hate, discrimination, and xenophobia of any kind.
Our library staff have brought together a collection of books and resources that we hope you'll find helpful in these uncertain times. Whether you're looking for ways to discuss current events with your children, your teens, one another, or you're merely learning for yourself (and we are always learning and growing) the following books and resources are here for you to use.
