Paratransit Services

FLEX Rides San LeandroSan Leandro offers transportation services for seniors over the age of 50 and people with disabilities who reside within San Leandro city limits through the FLEX RIDES program. The program consists of two flexible transportation options, FLEX Shuttle service and FLEX RIDES On-Demand concierge service. FLEX RIDES Coordinator, Liz Escobar, is available by phone or in-person to discuss an individual's transportation needs or to assist with enrollment. There is no fee to become a member.

FLEX RIDES Shuttle Service

FLEX Shuttle is a fixed route service that consists of a series of shuttle stops at popular locations throughout the City of San Leandro and offers unlimited rides to FLEX Members. There are two shuttle buses: North Route and South Route. Each route runs separately around the North and South sections of San Leandro. Riders can transfer between the North and South routes at the San Leandro Senior Community Center stop. Seniors ages 50+ and persons with disabilities ages 18+ who are East Bay Paratransit certified and reside within the incorporated San Leandro city limits are eligible for this service. There is no additional cost to ride the FLEX Shuttle and can be used as frequently as needed. Please see the link below to access the shuttle route, stop locations, and schedule.   IMG_1103

FLEX RIDES On Demand

FLEX RIDES On Demand provides a low-cost, fast, and convenient travel option through subsidized Uber rides for members who need to travel to specific locations or locations outside of San Leandro. This service is On Demand and you can normally expect a driver to arrive within 5 to 15 minutes of your call. To be eligible for FLEX RIDES On Demand, applicants must be registered FLEX RIDES members, 70 years old* or older OR at least 18 years old plus East Bay Paratransit Certified. 

Fee: Your share of the cost is $4 for each ride. FLEX RIDES On Demand covers the remaining ride cost up to $20. Any charge in excess of $20 is paid by you (i.e. if ride total = $24, the cost to you is $8).

Please complete the FLEX Application to enroll (PDF). You will be required to attach a copy of your identification card that shows proof of age and residency. If applicable, also attach a copy of your East Bay Paratransit certification.

Wheelchair Tether Strap Marking Program and Senior Clipper Card Events

FLEX RIDES is excited to partner with AC Transit’s Accessible Services Department to offer a FREE service for marking or installing tether straps on mobility devices. The mobility device Marking and Tether Strap Program provides identification of key securement points on all types of mobility aids, increased accessibility of public transit vehicles to individuals using ALL types of mobility aids and many more benefits! Join us to ask any questions you might have, learn about the services provided and get your mobility devices marked.

AC Transit’s Accessible Services Department will be issuing free senior Clipper Cards for individuals ages 65+! A valid ID to confirm date of birth is required to sign up for a free Clipper Card. Drop in to ask any questions you might have and to sign up for a FREE Clipper Card. Senior Clipper cards are issued with no cash value. Fares can be added at BART fare machines or other select locations. Ride fees charged to Senior Clipper Cards will reflect a discounted rate.

East Bay Paratransit

East Bay Paratransit (EBP) is available to residents who are unable to drive or access other forms of private or public transportation independently due to a medical or disabling condition. East Bay Paratransit services are provided by AC Transit and BART to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Note:
