Friends of the San Leandro Library

About the Friends

The Friends of the San Leandro Library is a non-profit organization comprised of community volunteers who help generate funds to support the San Leandro Library and its three neighborhood library branches. They also award 5 scholarships a year to local high school students who volunteered for the Library. They encourage membership in the Friends, selling gifts at the Friends Gift Shop and selling used books at the Booktique bookstore and at the semiannual book sales.

Membership

Membership in the Friends helps the organization partner with the community in providing additional library resources, educational community programming, sponsorship of the Summer Reading Program, and volunteer opportunities. Some of the major events sponsored by the Friends include: the very popular used book sales, author events and cultural programs, the Summer Reading Program Carnival, and Scholarship Awards.

Meetings

The Friends of the San Leandro Library Board meets the second Monday of each month, except July, starting at 6:30 pm at the San Leandro Main Library. Please call the Information Desk at 510-577-3971 for meeting room location.
