DELETE INFO MOVED TO "Teen Volunteer" Summer Volunteers

For teens going into 9th to 12th grades during the 2021 to 2022 school year.

Attention Parent / Guardian

It is highly recommended that your teen is responsible for all correspondence regarding the Teen Volunteer Program; starting with the application process and continuing throughout their volunteer service.

This program strives to prepare your child for his/her first job. We feel that the more responsibility that volunteers have in the successful execution of completing their service, the better prepared he or she will be to apply for jobs and enter the work force. When at all possible, please ask your teen to call, email, organize, and initiate! Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Summer 2021 Volunteer Opportunities for Teens

We are happy to welcome teen volunteers to support our Summer Reading Program this summer!

We have opportunities for both virtual and in-person volunteering.

Virtual Opportunities

Our virtual opportunities include cards for kids, virtual reading buddies, and writing reviews/articles. This opportunity is great for all teens entering grades 9 through 12.

Cards for Hospitalized Kids
Make cards for hospitalized kids! Sometimes human connection and care are the most powerful gifts we can give. Make cards to be sent to hospitalized kids to lift their spirits and let them know they matter.

Reading Buddies
Reading Buddies is a reading enrichment program for kids in grades 1 through 6. Young readers read out loud to teen volunteers who serve as cheerleaders and sympathetic listeners.

Reviews and Articles
Every other week we publish a new issue of Teen Lounge Newsletter - by teens, for teens. Featuring book and movie reviews, articles, self-care tips, and more, you can be a part of the newsletter team while earning volunteer credit. Read the guidelines for reviews here.

In Person Opportunities

Our in-person opportunities will include craft kit assembly and craft kit distribution (to the public). All volunteers must adhere to COVID safety guidelines and spaces are limited. This opportunity is best for teens entering grades 11 through 12. In-person volunteers will be chosen through an application and interview process. Priority is given to teens who can commit to at least 6 weeks of volunteering. Zoom interviews will take place May 19 and May 20.
