Public Works

The Public Works Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's infrastructure including public facilities, parks, streets and other public right-of-ways, street trees, storm inlets and sanitary sewers. The Department is also responsible for oversight of the San Leandro Recreational Shoreline, which includes the Marina, Monarch Bay Golf Club, the Bay Trail and marshlands. Public Works is committed to exceptional customer service, quality work, innovation and efficiency in operations.

Street Sweeping Map

Residential street sweeping is provided once per month, Monday through Friday. To determine your street's scheduled day, user our interactive map.

To improve the effectiveness of the street sweeping in your neighborhood:

  • Remove vehicles from the street before 8:00 a.m. and encourage your neighbors to do the same.
  • Do not sweep or blow leaves from your property into the street. Place leaves in your green waste container.
  • Remove any metal, concrete or wood ramp driveway approaches.
  • Remove any large trash or debris from the street.
  • Report abandoned or illegally parked vehicles to the Police - Traffic Division at 510-577-3208.

Streets are not swept on the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Abraham Lincoln's Birthday
  • President's Day
  • Cesar Chavez Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran's Day
  • Thanksgiving 
  • Christmas Day
