21st Century Policing - Final Report

The 21st Century Policing report was initially released by the President's Task Force in March 2015, followed by their final report in May 2015. The San Leandro Police Department brought this report to the Chief's Advisory Board for their review, research, and analysis. The President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing report features 6 Pillars:

  1. Building Trust and Legitimacy
  2. Policy and Oversight
  3. Technology and Social Media
  4. Community Policing and Crime Reduction
  5. Training and Education
  6. Officer Wellness and Safety

Members of the Chief's Advisory Board selected their pillar of interest and worked in small groups to assess the San Leandro Police Department's progress towards the recommendations and action items listed in the report. As a result of their work study, their assessment of the San Leandro Police Department has been compiled into 2 final reports designed to provide a status on the department's current performance and make recommendations for the future. The first report provides an overall summary for each pillar and the second report outlines the Department's status for each recommendation/action item. The next step for the Department is to advance our progress and consider implementing additional items recommended by the Advisory Board.
