Commercial Eviction Moratorium

Like in many communities, San Leandro's commercial eviction moratorium ended on September 30, 2021, when the Governor's executive order authorizing commercial eviction moratoria expires. Some protections will remain, including a period of at least 120 days during which a tenant can pay the rent that they had not paid during the moratorium. In collaboration with Start Small Think Big and SCORE, the City of San Leandro held a free webinar on Monday, September 20, 2021 on the legal and business aspects of eviction and the expiration of the commercial eviction moratoria. Speakers from Start Small Think Big, which connects small businesses with free legal assistance, and SCORE, which provides no-cost business counseling, talked about next steps for businesses. An attorney from Best Best and Krieger LLP spoke about the legal specifics.
