The project is in it’s design phase with an estimated half a million dollar budget. The expansion will start from the Williams Street and Doolittle Drive intersection, and go around the shoreline to connect at existing facilities on Wicks Boulevard.
This project is in the second phase of our 2013 “Fiber Conduit For Broadband Network Project”. As an addition, traffic signals at Marina Boulevard and Fairway Drive, along Doolittle Drive, will be incorporated into the fiber loop.
The project funds are from the America Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which aim to provide communities access to high speed broadband as it aids members in the community in tasks such as job searches, homework , and more. The ARPA funds will also be used to find existing issues in our fiber network throughout San Leandro.
This project is expected to be in construction by summer of 2023.
