What is a temporary report number and can I use this for my insurance or official purposes?

When you complete your online report you are given a temporary report number for reference only. This number is used if you need to check on the status of your report or there is additional information that needs to be added. The temporary report number is not an official police report and should not be provided as proof that a police report was filed.
