City Council to Hold Annual Planning Session on Saturday, January 31st

Mayor Pauline Russo Cutter and the San Leandro City Council announced that members of the community are invited to attend and offer their comments and input at the City Council’s annual planning session, which is set to take place this Saturday, January 31st.  The approximately half-day event will take place at the San Leandro Senior Center, located at 13909 East 14th Street, beginning at 8:00 a.m. 

“The annual planning session is one of the most important meetings of the City Council,” noted Mayor Cutter. “At this meeting the City Council will review and set annual goals for the City, which our City Manager and the entire organization are charged with implementing.  We welcome the community’s input in helping to shape these priorities.” 

Agenda topics for the day will include a review of accomplishments over the past year, as well progress made on the goals established at the 2014 planning session.  The goals for the current 2014-15 fiscal year include: 

  • Placing San Leandro on a firm foundation for long-term fiscal sustainability

  • Advancing projects and programs promoting sustainable economic development, including transforming San Leandro into a center for innovation

  • Providing quality public safety service and grow our partnership with the community to keep San Leandro safe

  • Maintaining and enhancing San Leandro’s infrastructure

  • Supporting and implementing programs, activities and strengthening communication that enhances the quality of life and wellness, celebrates the arts and diversity and promotes civic pride

  • Maintaining and supporting a strong positive relationship between the City, schools and the educational community 

The Council also will be provided with an overview of the City’s financial condition and workload data.  This presentation also will include year-to-date revenue and expenditure estimates and information on upcoming projects that may impact City finances.
