ZONING ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL
Administrative hearings before the City's Zoning Enforcement Official are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 9:00am in the Sister Cities Conference Room at City Hall. For more information, contact the Planner on Duty at (510) 577-3325.
The Planning Commission (PC) hears and recommends to the City Council on matters relating to the City's General Plan, advises on matters affecting the development of the City and recommends zoning matters such as planned unit developments, subdivision of land or amendments to the Zoning Code or map.
In January 2019, the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Adjustments were officially merged into one body by the City Council. One appointee serves as both a Planning Commissioner and Board Member and meetings are held concurrently on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00pm in the City Council Chambers.
The Board of Zoning Adjustments (BZA) hears and decides upon applications for zoning matters, such as Conditional Use Permits, Site Plan Review, Sign Programs, and appeals of certain administrative decisions. The Board has seven members who serve four-year terms.

San Leandro's Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Adjustments meetings are broadcast live as they happen on the City’s website through Meeting Central and via local public access television (Comcast channel 15 and AT&T U-Verse channel 99). Meetings are also replayed on television throughout the month. Regular meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm.

Anyone wishing to receive advance notification of public hearings and/or circulated CEQA documents must renew their request annually by notifying the Planning division in writing at the beginning of each calendar year.
