As of March 1, 2021, the San Leandro Public Library has eliminated its fee card policy. This means that any California resident can apply for and receive a San Leandro Public Library Card. To learn how to apply online, click here.
The Library issues free Library cards to anyone residing in California.
Library cardholders agree to obey the rules and regulations of the San Leandro Public Library and to abide by the borrower’s agreement.
Library card and borrowing regulations may change as needed to respond to community needs.
The Library cardholder may borrow circulating Library materials, use the Library's Internet stations, and access electronic resources and materials.
A Library card is issued to an individual, who agrees to:

The San Leandro Public Library is excited to announce our new Online Library Card Application! You can now fill out a simple form and get instant access with your temporary library barcode.
This barcode is just temporary, so please plan a visit during our Limited Reopening hours at the Main Library to show your picture ID and get a permanent library card!
How to apply for a card online
Fill out the form completely and click “Register” when you are finished.
The confirmation page will list your temporary barcode and your library PIN is the last four digits of your phone number you used on your application. Please make sure to write your barcode down if you want instant access to our online eBook collection.
Visit the Main Library during our Limited Reopening hours with your picture ID to verify your account and receive a permanent library card.

Visit any library location, complete a short online application (for a new card only), and present the following:
A valid California ID with current residence address.
OR, one item from EACH of the following two lists:
Please note: Library card applications for children ages 4 to 13 must be submitted and signed in person by a parent or guardian. The child or children must be present. The signature grants permission to the San Leandro Public Library to issue a library card and allow the minor access to the library’s computers.

Your library account PIN is the last four digits of the phone number you supplied when you applied for your library card. If you are unsure of your PIN, or need to update you PIN, please email Circulation@sanleandro.org for assistance.
Homebound patrons may authorize use of their library card by filling out an authorization form: San Leandro Public Library Authorization form.
