What is Project Literacy?
Project Literacy is an adult and family literacy program. We provide free literacy services for English-speaking adults. Project Literacy provides a no-pressure and non-academic environment where learners gain skills they can use right away. Our trained volunteer tutors tailor lessons based on the learner's personal goals such as getting a job, passing the GED, reading to their child, writing emails for work, and more.
We provide:
Learners are matched with tutors for weekly tutoring sessions. Free tutor training and instructional materials are provided to tutors.
Children’s story times with free book distribution and family activities, held at Main Library and community outreach sites.
With tutor support, learners can receive instruction in basic computer literacy, write resumes, get help with writing and sending emails, and more.
