Chief of Police
Proud to Serve
San Leandro, I am humbled and honored to put on this uniform every morning and serve this diverse city where I was born and raised. I am extremely proud of the fine men and women of this department who are committed to serving this community with the utmost professionalism and integrity. However, we can only go so far as an organization without the unwavering trust and support of the public we serve.
This year has given us the opportunity to confront the many challenges we face as law enforcement, but while the nuances of policing are changing, our fundamental responsibilities and community commitments remain the same. It has never been more evident that the safety of this city relies on the collaboration of this department with the people we serve. As the father of modern-day policing, Robert Peel said, “The police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.”
As your Chief, it is my duty and responsibility to ensure this department has the people, training, and resources to properly protect and serve this community. To that end, we will continue to focus our recruiting efforts on candidates that value the importance of community-policing and partnerships and will enforce laws impartially. We will prioritize community relationships and engagement as the most important tools to succeed in our overall mission of crime reduction and prevention. I am hopeful that we can all work together to achieve these goals that benefit all of us.
Your trust and confidence in this Department will never be taken for granted; we will work to earn and maintain your trust every day.
