We are working towards a just transition and climate emergency mobilization that centers frontline communities that are disproportionately impacted by climate change. Through equitable community-driven climate resilience planning and collaborating with community on the vision of San Leandro they want to see, we will together build the capacity to implement the solutions we need.

Award Recognitions

City of San Leandro was awarded the SolSmart Silver Designation and a Special Recognition in Inspection by SolSmart in 2021. This national designation is in recognition of the work the city is doing to make it faster, easier, and more affordable to go solar. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Office, SolSmart recognizes cities and counties for cutting red tape and making solar more affordable and accessible for homes and businesses. The SolSmart Silver designation recognizes that we are “open for solar business,” helping to attract solar industry investment that generates economic development and jobs. 

City of San Leandro was recognized by the Beacon Award Program in 2020 by the Institute for Local Government on addressing climate change and energy efficiency in the following areas:

• Platinum Level Award for 20% Community Greenhouse Gas Reductions 
• Gold Level Award for 10% Agency Greenhouse Gas Reductions 
• Platinum Level Award for 32% Agency Energy Savings 
• Gold Level Award for Sustainability Best Practices
